We have been learning a lot about elections and presidents the last few weeks leading up to today's election. The school participated in a mock election yesterday. The results were Obama won. The students have been really excited and couldn't wait to cast their vote. The pictures taken above are part of the election packet. I took the students up after they voted and took their pictures by McCain, Obama, and Mr. Earl. Note: Mr. Earl is not running for president. He is the spokesperson for the school mall program. The information was sent home Monday and those need to be returned by Friday. We learned some interesting facts about past presidents. Did you know that Eisenhower was a football coach? L. Johnson was a school principal. J.Q. Adams, Fillmore, and Garfield were teachers. Abraham Lincoln was a postmaster. J.F.K.'s favorite book was James Bond. Nixon's favorite song was "Home on the Range". Calvin Coolidge had a pet donkey. Buchanan was a boxer. These are just a few of the many facts we learned about past presidents. The students really seemed to enjoy learning about the election and the presidents.
