Freedom Week

We have been celebrating Freedom Week this week. We have talked about the symbols of Freedom. The symbols we have focused most on are Statue of Liberty, Liberty Bell, American Flag, and the United States Seal. We have discussed what United We Stand means and why it is important to study about freedom. Today our school was asked to wear red, white, and blue in honor of Freedom week. I couldn't let a photo opportunity pass up. We will have examples of the freedom symbols at our class pep rally this week. It will be this Friday at 1:45 in the cafeteria. Only half of the class will be presenting because our class will have it again in February. The other half of the class will get to participate then. I will send a reminder note home on Thursday to those parents whose children will be in the pep rally.

September 11th and Math Tests

These are the students working hard on their Math Test. We had a Fact Math Test yesterday and EVERYONE made an A+. I am VERY proud of them!!! The picture on top shows the bulletin board in the room that showcases all of their FANTASTIC work.
We also talked about September 11th. I read the September 12th We Knew Everything Would Be All Right. It is a neat book written by 1st graders in Missouri. It talks about how even though the attacks were very sad it was still going to be ok. It also talked about how our country united together after the attacks. The students were really interested and had a lot to say about 9/11. They wanted to know the exact minute it happend. We also had a moment of silence. The students have amazed me with their knowledge of past and current events.
